About the High Commission of Canada in Rwanda
The Canadian High Commission in Kigali is Canada’s resident diplomatic and consular mission in Rwanda.
Canada established diplomatic relations with Rwanda in 1963. Canada later expanded its diplomatic presence in Kigali, and the Canadian office was converted into a High Commission in 2023.
The mission also provides Canadian consular services for Burundi.

Passport services
Canadian passport applicants can book an appointment to present their documents in person. Passport fees should be paid online before attending.

Eligible paper citizenship applications from Rwanda can be deposited in the Consular Services drop box. Applications from Burundi can be mailed to the High Commission in Kigali.
Notarial services
Selected notarial services are available by appointment for Canadian citizens, including witnessing signatures and certifying true copies.

Canadians requiring urgent assistance can contact the High Commission during business hours. Emergency consular assistance is available 24 hours a day through the Government of Canada.

The High Commission can provide selected notarial assistance related to marriage abroad, including witnessing a statement in lieu of a certificate of non-impediment where applicable.
