When a Tanzanian passport is lost, stolen or severely damaged, the replacement application must include a sworn declaration explaining the circumstances and details of the authority to which the loss, theft or damage was reported.

Travel to Tanzania

Tanzania Visa Information for Canadian Travellers

Canadian citizens currently require a visa for travel to Tanzania.

Canada is not included among the countries whose nationals are exempt from Tanzania’s visa requirement.

Canadian nationals are currently eligible to obtain a Tanzanian visa through the official online visa system or through the visa-on-arrival facility.

For ordinary tourism, Tanzania currently provides an Ordinary Single Entry Visa valid for up to 90 days. The current official immigration fee for this visa category is USD 50.

Applicants should hold a passport valid for at least six months with at least one unused visa page. Tanzania Immigration also requires visitors to be able to show a return ticket on arrival.

Travellers applying online should wait for the Visa Grant Notice before starting their journey. Possession of a visa or grant notice does not itself guarantee admission, as the final entry decision is made by immigration authorities at the border.

Canadian passport holders: A visa is currently required. Canada is eligible for both Tanzania’s online visa application and visa-on-arrival facility. Applying online before travel can reduce uncertainty at the border.
