Planning your visit
Consular Appointments
The Embassy requires advance appointments for consular applications that are submitted in person.
Appointments are made through the Embassy’s official online booking system. Applicants should select the service they require and reserve an available appointment before travelling to Ottawa.
Some procedures can be completed remotely or by mail, so an in-person visit is not required for every consular service.
For questions concerning consular procedures, the Embassy provides telephone consultations through its dedicated consular number and also accepts enquiries by email.
Emergency telephone: The emergency number is reserved for exceptional situations such as serious accidents, deaths, natural disasters and other urgent emergencies. It is not used for appointments or routine consular information.
Moldovan identity documents
Passports, ID Cards and Emergency Travel Documents
The Embassy provides identity-document services for Moldovan citizens in Canada and periodically extends selected services through mobile consular visits in other Canadian cities.
Passport and identity-card applications involve identity verification and the applicable enrolment procedures. Applicants should book the appropriate appointment and review the current documentary requirements before attending.
The Embassy also issues an Emergency Travel Document for eligible persons who need to return to Moldova but do not have a valid passport or other usable travel document.
An Emergency Travel Document may be available when a passport has expired, been lost or stolen, or is damaged and cannot be used. The document is intended for a single journey with Moldova as the final destination and is currently issued with a validity period of 30 days.
Transit matters: An Emergency Travel Document is not a replacement for an ordinary passport. Travellers should check transit requirements for every country on their route to Moldova before departure.
Travel to Moldova
Moldova Visas
Whether a traveller requires a visa for Moldova depends on nationality and the travel document used.
Canadian citizens are currently exempt from the requirement to obtain a visa for qualifying travel to Moldova.
Foreign nationals who do require a visa can apply through a Moldovan embassy or consulate abroad. Moldova also operates an official electronic visa system for eligible short-term visa applications.
Applicants using the eVisa procedure can complete the application online without obtaining a traditional visa from the Embassy when they meet the applicable eligibility requirements.
Check current entry rules: Visa exemption does not remove other immigration requirements. Travellers should verify current passport, permitted-stay and entry conditions before travelling to Moldova.
Visitor information
