About the Embassy of Canada in Rabat

The Canadian Embassy in Rabat is Canada’s resident diplomatic mission in Morocco and also represents Canada in Mauritania.

The embassy supports Canada’s political, commercial and development relationships with Morocco and Mauritania and provides Government of Canada services and consular assistance to Canadians in both countries.

Canada and Morocco maintain broad bilateral ties in areas including trade, investment, education, security, migration and climate cooperation.

Passport services

All Canadian passport applications in Morocco must currently be submitted in person at the embassy by appointment.

Citizenship services

Eligible paper applications for proof of Canadian citizenship can be mailed to the embassy or placed in the Consular Services drop box during published hours.

Notarial services

The embassy provides selected notarial services by appointment, including certified copies, witnessing signatures and certain document authentication services.

Marriage abroad

The embassy can issue certain documents required by Moroccan authorities for Canadians planning to marry in Morocco, including a statement concerning capacity to marry where applicable.

Emergency assistance

Canadian citizens requiring urgent help can contact the embassy during business hours. Emergency consular assistance is available 24 hours a day through Canada’s Emergency Watch and Response Centre.

Visa and immigration

The consular section does not provide visa or immigration advice or processing. Applications are handled through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and official application channels.

General embassy appointments

General appointments are currently available Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Consular appointments

Consular services are currently available by appointment Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Check before travelling: Operating hours may change during a large-scale emergency or official closure. Confirm your appointment before making a special trip to the embassy.

Canadian passport services in Rabat

The Embassy of Canada in Rabat requires all passport applications to be submitted in person by appointment.

Book an appointment

Use the embassy’s online appointment system before attending. Applicants without an appointment should not travel to the embassy to submit a passport application.

Allow enough processing time

The embassy currently states that complete passport applications normally require approximately four to five weeks. Passports are printed in Canada and no express processing service is available.

Urgent travel: A temporary passport may be available in qualifying urgent cases when the applicant is also submitting a regular passport application. Additional requirements and fees apply.

Payment: Passport fees can be paid online in Canadian dollars or, where permitted, on site by eligible credit card. Cash and cheque payments are not accepted.
