About the Embassy of Canada to Lithuania

The Canadian Embassy in Vilnius is Canada’s resident diplomatic mission in Lithuania.

Canada and Lithuania have close bilateral relations based on strong people-to-people ties and cooperation as NATO Allies. Canada never recognized the Soviet annexation of Lithuania and was among the first countries to recognize the restoration of Lithuanian independence.

Canada maintained a diplomatic office in Vilnius before upgrading the mission to a full embassy in July 2023 and appointing its first resident ambassador to Lithuania.

The embassy provides passport, citizenship, notarial and other services for Canadian citizens.

Passport services

Canadian citizens can submit passport applications through the embassy by appointment. Routine applications can also be sent by registered mail to Canada’s Regional Passport Processing Centre in Vienna.

Citizenship services

Eligible paper applications for proof of Canadian citizenship can be mailed to the Embassy of Canada in Vilnius or sent directly to the Regional Passport Processing Centre in Vienna.

Notarial services

The embassy provides selected notarial services by appointment, including eligible document certification and authentication-related services.

Birth and marriage abroad

The embassy provides information and selected in-person services for Canadians dealing with births and marriages outside Canada.

Emergency assistance

Canadian citizens requiring urgent assistance can contact the embassy during business hours. Emergency consular assistance is available 24 hours a day through Canada’s Emergency Watch and Response Centre.

Visa and immigration

Applications to visit, study, work or immigrate to Canada are handled through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and its official application channels.

General appointments are currently available Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Notarial services are currently available by appointment on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday to Friday: Consular, passport and notarial services are currently closed from Wednesday through Friday.
