About the Embassy of Canada to Senegal
The Canadian Embassy in Dakar is Canada’s resident diplomatic mission in Senegal and an important regional consular post in West Africa.
Canada and Senegal established diplomatic relations in 1962. The two countries cooperate on political, economic, development and security issues, including education, energy, mining, technology and regional peace and stability.
The embassy also provides Canadian consular services for Cabo Verde, The Gambia, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.

Canadian citizens residing in Senegal must book an appointment to present their passport application documents in person at the embassy.

Eligible paper applications for proof of Canadian citizenship can be sent by trackable mail or deposited in the embassy drop box during published weekday hours.
Notarial services
The embassy provides selected notarial services by appointment, including certified copies, witnessing signatures, statutory declarations and certain authentication services.
Marriage abroad
The embassy can witness signatures on statements in lieu of a certificate of non-impediment to marriage abroad when applicable.
Emergency assistance
Canadian citizens requiring urgent assistance can contact the embassy during business hours. Emergency consular assistance is available 24 hours a day through Canada’s Emergency Watch and Response Centre.

General appointments are currently available Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Friday, appointments are available from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Consular appointments
Consular services are currently available by appointment on Monday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: The regular consular appointment schedule is currently closed on these days.

Applicants in Senegal
Canadian citizens residing in Senegal must book an appointment to present their passport application documents in person at the embassy.
Applicants in neighbouring countries
Applicants in Guinea, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Cabo Verde must first send a complete scanned application in PDF format to the consular section for pre-screening. Once approved, the embassy provides instructions for sending the application by courier.
Urgent passport cases
If travel is required in less than 20 business days, contact the consular section by email and explain the urgent circumstances before submitting the application.
Processing time: The embassy currently states that standard passport processing takes 20 business days, excluding holidays and postal delivery time. Passports are printed in Canada and the embassy cannot expedite the regular process.
Child passports in Senegal: For a child passport application, both the child and the parent applying must be present when the application is submitted. Additional requirements apply when the parents reside in Senegal.
