The Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi is Canada’s resident diplomatic mission in the United Arab Emirates.

Canada and the United Arab Emirates maintain extensive political, economic and commercial relations, with cooperation in areas including trade, investment, technology, energy, security and international affairs.

Canada is represented in the UAE by the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and a Consulate General in Dubai.

Services at the Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi

The embassy provides passport, citizenship, notarial and other consular services for Canadian citizens.

Passport services

Canadian passport applications can be presented in person by appointment. Passport service fees must be paid online before the application is completed.

Citizenship services

Eligible paper applications for proof of Canadian citizenship can be mailed to the embassy or deposited in the Consular Services drop box.

Notarial services

The embassy provides selected notarial services by appointment, including certified copies, signature witnessing, statutory declarations and document authentication services.

Marriage abroad

The embassy does not perform, witness or register marriages, but it can notarize a statement in lieu of a certificate of non-impediment to marriage when required by local authorities.

Emergency assistance

Canadian citizens requiring urgent assistance can contact the embassy during business hours. Emergency consular assistance is available 24 hours a day through Canada’s Emergency Watch and Response Centre.

Applications to visit, study, work or immigrate to Canada are handled through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and its official application channels.

Passport appointments are currently available Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Notarial services are currently available by appointment on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
