The Canadian Embassy in Madrid is Canada’s resident diplomatic mission in Spain.

General appointments are currently available Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Friday, appointments are available from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Consular services are currently available by appointment Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Notarial appointments

Notarial services are currently available by appointment on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Passport appointments

Passport appointments are currently available on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Canadian passport services in Madrid

The Embassy of Canada in Madrid is the regular passport service point for Canadian citizens in Spain and Andorra.

Apply by mail

Complete the application, attach all required documents and a copy of the online payment receipt, and send the package by registered or traceable mail to Embassy of Canada, Consular Services, Paseo de la Castellana 259D, 28046 Madrid.

Special circumstances

If your passport has been lost, stolen or damaged, you need to travel in less than five weeks, or you need to retain your current passport during processing, contact the consular section before submitting the application.

No drop-off box: The Embassy of Canada in Madrid does not have a passport drop-off box. Regular applications must be sent by registered or traceable mail.

Processing time: Once a complete application has been received, the embassy currently states a processing time of five weeks, plus mailing time.

No paid expedited service: Regular passport processing cannot be expedited by paying an additional fee because Canadian passports are printed in Canada.

Passport return: The new passport, cancelled previous passport and original documents are normally returned by registered mail. In-person pick-up or overnight messenger return can be requested with the application.
