About the Embassy of Canada to Zimbabwe

The Canadian Embassy in Harare is Canada’s resident diplomatic mission in Zimbabwe.

Canada established diplomatic relations with Zimbabwe in 1980 following Zimbabwe’s independence. The embassy supports Canada’s political, development, commercial and people-to-people relations with the country.

The Harare mission is also concurrently accredited to Botswana and Malawi and provides Canadian consular services for both countries.

Passport services

Canadian passport applicants can arrange an appointment by email to present their application documents in person at the embassy.

Citizenship services

Eligible paper applications for proof of Canadian citizenship can be mailed to the embassy or deposited in the Consular Services drop box.

Notarial services

The embassy provides selected notarial services by appointment, including certified copies, witnessing signatures and certain authentication services.

Marriage abroad

The embassy can issue a statement in lieu of a certificate of non-impediment to marriage abroad where required.

Emergency assistance

Canadian citizens requiring urgent assistance can contact the embassy during business hours. Emergency consular assistance is available 24 hours a day through Canada’s Emergency Watch and Response Centre.

Visa, study, work and immigration applications are handled through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the official visa application process.

The embassy currently publishes walk-in hours for both general enquiries and consular services.

General embassy hours

General walk-in access is currently available Monday to Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Consular walk-in hours

Consular services are currently available on a walk-in basis Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Passport and notarial services: These services have their own procedures. Passport applicants should arrange an appointment by email, and notarial services are provided by appointment.
