About the Embassy of Canada to Tunisia

The Canadian Embassy in Tunis is Canada’s resident diplomatic mission in Tunisia.

The embassy supports Canada’s political, economic, development and people-to-people relationship with Tunisia and provides Government of Canada services to Canadians visiting or living in the country.

A separate Canadian diplomatic mission for Libya also operates remotely from the same Canadian embassy premises in Tunis while Canada’s embassy in Tripoli remains closed.

The embassy provides passport, citizenship, notarial and other consular services for Canadian citizens.

Passport services

Canadian passport services are provided in person by appointment. Passport applications are not accepted by mail, email or fax.

Citizenship services

Eligible paper applications for proof of Canadian citizenship can be mailed to the embassy or placed in the Consular Services drop box.

Notarial services

The embassy provides selected notarial services by appointment, including certified copies and certain authentication-related services.

Marriage abroad

The embassy can issue a declaration in lieu of a certificate of non-impediment to marriage when required by Tunisian authorities.

Emergency assistance

Canadian citizens requiring urgent assistance can contact the embassy during business hours. Emergency consular assistance is available 24 hours a day through Canada’s Emergency Watch and Response Centre.
