About the Embassy of Canada to Cambodia

The Canadian Embassy in Phnom Penh is Canada’s resident diplomatic mission in Cambodia. Canada has maintained a diplomatic presence in Phnom Penh since 1993.

In March 2025, Canada upgraded its mission in Phnom Penh to a full embassy as part of Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy.

The embassy is headed by Christian DesRoches, Ambassador of Canada to Cambodia. He is Canada’s first resident ambassador in Phnom Penh since 2007.

Services at the Canadian Embassy in Phnom Penh

The embassy provides several services and official information for Canadian citizens visiting or living in Cambodia.

Passport services

Canadian citizens can apply for passport services and obtain assistance if a passport is lost, stolen or damaged. In-person passport services are provided by appointment.

Citizenship services

Canadians can apply for proof of citizenship. Paper applications may be mailed to the embassy or dropped off in person during published weekday hours.

Notarial services

The embassy provides selected notarial services, including certified copies, marriage-related affidavits and certain document services. Appointments are required for in-person services.

Birth and marriage abroad

Official information is available for Canadians dealing with births and marriages in Cambodia. The embassy does not perform or register marriages.

Emergency assistance

Canadian citizens facing a serious emergency can contact the embassy during business hours. Emergency consular assistance is available 24 hours a day through Canada’s consular network.

The embassy does not accept or process Canadian visa applications. Applications to visit, study, work or immigrate to Canada must be made through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
