Zimbabwean Passport Services in Ottawa

Zimbabwean citizens applying through the Ottawa mission must attend the Embassy in person for fingerprinting and authentication of their supporting documents.

The Embassy currently provides the appropriate passport application forms when the applicant attends in person.

Applicants are instructed to bring the required original documents together with clear photocopies. Depending on the case, these include the applicant’s current or expired passport, Zimbabwean National Identity Card, long-form birth certificate and passport photographs.

Additional documents can be required following marriage, divorce, adoption, guardianship or the loss of a passport. A police report is required for a lost passport.

Applicants aged 16 and over require a Zimbabwean National Identity Card. The Embassy notes that National Identity Cards themselves are issued in Zimbabwe rather than at the Embassy.

Processing after the Embassy visit

After the Embassy has processed the forms, taken fingerprints and authenticated the documents, the application documents are returned to the applicant.

The Embassy’s current instructions state that the applicant then sends the completed package to a relative in Zimbabwe, who submits it to the passport office there. Completed passports sent back to Canada by courier must be addressed to the Embassy for onward delivery to the applicant.

Personal attendance is required: Passport applicants must attend the Embassy for fingerprinting and document authentication. Review the current document checklist before travelling to Ottawa.
