Travel to Thailand
Thailand Entry Information for Canadian Travellers
Canadian ordinary passport holders currently qualify for Thailand’s 30-day tourist visa exemption.
Effective September 15, 2026, Canada is one of the countries included in Thailand’s revised 30-day visa exemption scheme for holders of ordinary passports travelling for tourism.
This replaces the previous 60-day visa exemption arrangement.
Travellers can be required to show proof of onward or return travel within the permitted period and sufficient funds for their stay.
An extension of the visa-exempt stay can be requested from the appropriate immigration office in Thailand, subject to the applicable rules, fees and approval of the immigration authorities.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card
Non-Thai nationals entering Thailand must also complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before arrival. The TDAC is an arrival-registration requirement and does not replace a visa when a visa is required.
Travellers who are not eligible for visa exemption or who require a visa for their intended purpose can apply through Thailand’s official e-Visa system.
Canadian travellers: The previous 60-day visa exemption changed on September 15, 2026. Canadian ordinary passport holders are now eligible for a 30-day tourist visa exemption under Thailand’s revised rules.
